Ginzling, Austria – Hiking Tours

The Alpinists’ Village –

The tiny hamlet of Ginzling sits at the doorstep of the majestic Nature Park Zillertal Alps, the largest protected land area of the Alps, covering 379 square kilometers (235 miles). Some 80 stunning glaciers, clear, mountain streams, breathtaking views, and the chance to glimpse alpine wildflowers and fauna, including mountain sheep and chamois, reward hikers.

Split by the Zemmobach River, Ginzling is referred to as “the alpinists’ village.” It’s also home to the park’s state-of-the-art visitors’ center, which houses interactive exhibits, including one on alpine farming and an ibex observation platform.

The town itself is a step back in time; there are no tourist shops, souvenir stands, or crowded streets. Cows are still grazed in an apple orchard next to the small church in the center of the village. An annual highlight is the celebrated return of the cattle in autumn, when a parade of lavishly decorated cows and sheep return from alpine pastures.

All trips have two or three guides with a maximum group size of 12. Three levels of hiking are offered each day.
