Saas Fee, Switzerland – Hiking Tours

Pearl of the Alps –

Situated on a high plateau surrounded by 13,000-foot peaks, this car-less glacier village is known as the Pearl of the Alps. With its close proximity to the Italian border, it’s hard to miss the neighboring country’s influence on the remote Saas valley. Views over the valley floor take in rows of grapevines that will be harvested by hand and pressed at local wineries. The towering peaks separating Switzerland and Italy are bridged by hidden mountain passes, which have allowed cultural blending for centuries. Alpine Adventures Trails Tours takes guests along some of these high elevation trails known as hohenwegs.

Saas-Fee village is also home to the world’s highest revolving restaurant at 11,000 feet and what is believed to be the world’s largest ice pavilion. Wandering the ice grotto of Saas Fee’s glacier offers a rare chance to explore the interior of a glacier that’s thousands of years old. And given the many thrilling activities available, including Saas Fee’s glacier skiing, tobogganing, mountaineering, and a canopy adventure park, it’s no wonder Saas-Fee village is also host to the Ice Climbing World Cup each January.

All trips have two or three guides with a maximum group size of 12. Three levels of hiking are offered each day. Trips have built in free-day(s) to explore on your own.
